Lunch date

Sydney and I went on a lunch date with her friend Mason to a nearby park.  I put Sydney in a swing for the first time, and tried to get some pictures but my camera on my phone wasn't fast enough.  I got a picture of the side of her head and another picture of just the ground.  I gave up.  I did, however, get some cute ones of the kids on the blanket.

Mason's mommy, Beth, and I had a nice lunch on the blanket among the gnats and the kids played without a care.  Mason is already crawling and I could tell that Sydney was taking notes.  Now she's more adventurous about trying to pull herself up into my lap, and reaching for toys really far away.  I think she'll get it soon.  We just need to be hanging out with Mason more often. :)

The Zoo outside of the aquarium

FINALLY we've gotten Landon out of the aquarium at the zoo!!  We took him a couple of times when he's had time off of school.  We were walking through the aquarium the first day and a nice lady came up and told us that they were closing it for renovations for 6 MONTHS!!  Initially, I thought "oh crap!" but then I got to thinking about how it might be a chance to get Landon into other things.  All he's ever wanted to see was the aquarium.  

We went two different days, the first day was me, Landon, Sydney, and Heidi.  The second time we went we brought Theresa instead of Heidi and Megan and Nevin joined us.  We had a lot of fun exploring new things.  Landon was kind of hesitant at first, but warmed up to the jungle and the sea lions.  He even liked feeding the koi fish and swans. :) 

 Day 1 was spent in the aquarium:

We went to visit the sea lions.  I thought maybe Landon would like how they barked.  Thankfully, they were active and one of them was throwing a toy around.  Landon enjoyed watching him throw it around and chase after it.

Now Landon loves the zoo.  Every time he has a day off from school he wants to go there. :)  He tells me "Mama...zoo...Monday" (that's normally the day he has off from school).  He's a smart little booger.

I took this video the other day of Landon.  He found the tape measure and was looking at the numbers on it.  Then it became very funny. :)

I don't think the boy will ever stop loving numbers!  We always joke that he will be our accountant when we get older.  I'm glad he's good with numbers because I'm certainly not! :)

Race for the Cure 2011

I've been starting to have a little bit of the "same-stuff-different-day" syndrome.  I decided I wanted to get out and do something I hadn't done before.  At the last minute I decided I wanted to walk in the Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure" walk/run.  It's an event that goes on around the United States to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

My friend Pyper and her daughter Roslyn joined us bright and early to walk a mile for the race.  We're going to say it was a race, but it was more of a leisurely stroll for me and Pyper.  Pyper is 7 months pregnant.  With twins...yes, twins.  She is super woman. :)  She walked with the best of them!  We did great and enjoyed every minute of our "stroll". :)

I also decided to have a goal to raise $146 for the Susan G. Komen foundation.  That's how much it is for a digital mammogram in the state of Nebraska.  I'm proud to say with the help of my friends and family I raised $150 in about 4 days!!  It was great!  I felt like I accomplished something.  I'm planning on doing it again next year and hopefully I will be running in the 5K with Pyper...did I mention she's super woman? ;)

Anyways, I'm hoping it can be a tradition with me and Sydney.  She got up early with me and I bundled her up in the stroller for the walk.  She loved it!  It was a little chilly, but she did great!  Her and Roslyn had fun talking to each other through their strollers. :)

Good Hair/Bad Hair

Sydney's hair is finally starting to grow out a little bit and I've been having fun with putting clippies and barrettes in her hair.  We've even tried a pony (ponytail) on the top of her head.

She's lookin' cute...but there are those bad hair days that sneak up on us. :)

My little Sydney is getting so big.  I didn't really notice how much until Megan took her pictures a couple weekends ago.  When she posted one of the pictures on Facebook, I couldn't believe how big she looked!  She's growing up so fast and her first birthday will definitely sneak up on me!!  Crazy!

Carefree Kids night at the Children's Museum

Landon always has fun at the Omaha Children's Museum!  We've gone there many times for their "Carefree Kids" night.  They offer free admission to the museum for kids that have compromised immune systems.  It's on a Monday night after the museum has been closed for cleaning all day long.  They bring the kids in after they clean everything to let them play without having to worry about germs and getting sick.  We love it because there isn't a million kids trying to play all at the same time so we get to meander through at our own pace and not have to worry about Landon getting clobbered by other kids.  Landon loves it because he gets to run around and play where ever he wants.

Landon and Sydney both liked playing on the light piano.  Sydney really understood that when she pushed a button the board would light up.  She looked up every time!

I'm not sure if you've seen smaller versions of these things, but they are made of a bunch of little pegs and when you push into it, it will make a design of whatever you pushed in.  Braydon decided to make himself with three heads....creepy.

Sydney's play time!!!  They have a room just for kids from 0-3 years old.  I took Sydney in there while Landon ran around not doing anything in particular. :)

I can't wait till the next time we go.  I think they do it twice a year.  Sydney will be over a year and doing totally different things by then.  It will be interesting to see what Sydney wants to play with versus what Landon will want to play with.
